This should have been an easy task with all the great words of wisdom I'm used to spewing out, but for some reason today I struggled. Then my wife spotted a magnet attached to our refrigerator that has been there for quite some time and I knew what to shoot; you see we have a granddaughter with special needs, Brooklyn.

This magnet represents all the words that she and her parents use and embrace regularly; as well all the special needs kids and their families every where.

I've photographed them at swimming, bocchi ball, golf, summer camp and many other Special Olympic events. And I am humbled by their true grit and spirit of competition and sportsmanship.

For most their "handicap" or uniqueness is obvious and they work hard to succeed despite it. For me my handicap is often a lot harder for me to see; it's my attitude - t often limits me when no limits should be set or builds excuses when none are necessary.

I will work at living by these same words and the example set for me by Brooklyn all her friends.
